Sleep is a wonderful thing.
Sleep is something that has been quite a challenge over the years for me. As I hit my mid-50s I am getting to 1500hrs and getting tired. A truly horrendous feeling.
So sleep protocols have come into play. Youtube and X are awash with gurus telling you how to sleep better.
Watching, learning and heeding the advice I have put in place:
Blackout blinds.
Bed by 2130hrs.
Up at 0445hrs.
A cool room.
Aim to not eat heavily before bed but this does not happen. I need to fix this part.
Read for 10 minutes or so.
Phone off.
Yet I still get an average of 5 hours of kip. Recently it has been better at 6 and I am rather pleased with that.
I have been lowering my carbs to aim to lose a bit of timber. If I eat minimal carbs before bed and go protein and fats the sleep is better.
What is different is if I grab the window between 2130hrs and 2200hrs to slow down, read, and switch off I certainly fall asleep quicker.
Plus if I remember to take the magnesium this certainly helps.
Mastering sleep is an ongoing game in the ingredients I need to live life at 150%.
I have used an Oura ring now for almost 4 years. This is an amazing gadget and has taught me so much.
