Have I achieved what I set out to do in 2024?
Actually yes I have. This was a year of engine building, getting stronger and being able to recover. Yes, I plan my years from Dec 1st to the end of November. I am not a New Year resolution type of person.
The engine feels like it is ready to be used now.
I am recovering from the gym.
Weight is down and lean body mass has improved. Putting muscle on in your 50s is no mean feat.
Reps at 8-12 with a heavier weight simply destroy me for days.
Reps at 15 to 50 works. I get a real burn and the drop sets feel great. I can get to failure.
The bonus- I can lift, run or use the skierg the next day. Yes, I am sore however I am not destroyed.
Food has been a learning curve and the carbs have been reduced. A lot!!
I need between 50 and 120g a day to feel decent and not have a world of tiredness and brain fog.
I feel alive and the energy levels are decent.
Time to consider what the next 12 months’ focus shall be… My brain wants to go chase an ultra run, however realistically I want to make the weight room my church again and focus on this and continue to get stronger. It takes so long to add the muscle nowadays so I need to invest the time into it.
I can keep the engine working with 2 or 3 runs and a couple of skiergs a week.
Reflection time. A real mix of winter running and the gym. I love the winter running.
The doc says to earn your reward. I am earning the reward.
No one cares. Just get on with your stuff that makes you happy.

Awesome ! Autumn is a great reaffirmation that we can shed what we don’t need and work inwards and wait for the spring to bloom, enjoy the summer and reap fruits in fall, again. Thank you for your services, loving your page.
