Noise.

I was talking about noise today. Here are some thoughts.

The Noise of Life

Life ticks on, steady as a heartbeat.

But layered over that rhythm is the noise—the relentless hum of family demands, work deadlines, health and money etc etc. .

It’s the email that lands at midnight, the argument that lingers, the bill that surprises.

Noise isn’t always loud; sometimes it’s a low, persistent static that drowns out clarity.

We can’t mute it entirely. The trick is learning to turn down the volume on ourselves first.

This is something I have had to learn the hard way.

Think: Your Health – Mental and Physical.

Putting your own oxygen mask on first before helping others. This must be a LIFE RULE.

Physical and mental health aren’t luxuries; they’re the foundation.

.

Move daily:

A 20-minute walk, a quick stretch, lifting something heavy—whatever fits. Your body repays consistency with energy. Plus it is Free. . . . You do not need a goooochi gym membership.

Sleep ruthlessly:

Guard it like a deadline. Set your alarm for bed and you will soon not need one to get up.

Feed the mind:

Ten minutes of silence, a journal, a podcast that isn’t about work—small deposits. They will compound into resilience over time.

Pay attention:

When your tank is full, the noise gets worse. Learn to recognise when your tank is full.

We are all different and different types of stress tease us all into a tank full of noise.

What I do now:

I walk the dog twice a day.

I run, gym or ski erg x5 a week on average.

I write lines in a scrapbook. It just reminds me to be. I discovered this is school detention. It worked to focus me.

I have an alarm for 21.30hrs daily. I awake at 0440hrs most days. If i do not the dog ensures i do..

I sit and simply stare out the window. I do this as the tinnitus in my right ear needs tuning into . The benefits are wider than the lowering of the fire alarm in my head from just sitting.

I will have a nap.

I have recognised a few symptoms of my noise being loud:

I stop shaving daily, I find an excuse to not dress well, I eat bread (which i am capable of binge eating) and the morning dog walks become fuelled by coffee before i leave the house.

These are my little signs that I need to slow down, take a day off or simply be aware of and lower the noise.

Learn to notice your noise and endeavour to put your own oxygen mask on first. it helps you and allows you to have the mental space to help those that need you. For those that need you may not even be aware of the noise.

Take the time to prepare your own battlefield. Find what works for you. Try different things and repeat what feels good or brings a sense of ease.

No one really cares so you have to give a shit about yourself.
