Personal Coaching.

Breaking down the basics of personal coaching.

When you hear the term “personal coaching,” what comes to mind?

Maybe it’s a vague image of someone cheering you on like a sports coach, or perhaps you picture a “life coach” doling out advice on how to “live your best life.”

I’ll let you in on a little secret: I’m a coach, but I don’t love the “life coach” label.

It feels too generic, too one-size-fits-all.

Personal coaching, to me, is something deeper, more tailored, and far more powerful.

So, let’s break it down: what is personal coaching, really, and why might it matter to you?

Coaching as Your Personal GPS

Think of personal coaching like a GPS for your life’s journey.

You’re the driver, you know your destination (or at least have a vague idea of it), but the roads are twisty, the signs are unclear, and maybe you’re stuck at a crossroads. Life brings a lot of outside “NOISE’’ to distract us.

A coach doesn’t grab the wheel or tell you exactly where to go.

Instead, they sit beside you, asking questions like, “Where do you want to end up?” or “What’s stopping you from taking that turn?”

They help you map out the route, spot roadblocks, and find the confidence to keep driving. The coach can take an aerial view as they are not living YOUR life.

Unlike therapy, which often digs into your past to heal old wounds, or consulting, where an expert hands you a playbook, coaching is about the present and future.

A partnership where you’re the expert on your life, and I’m here to help you uncover what’s already inside you—your goals, values, and strengths.

My job is to ask the right questions, challenge your blind spots, and keep you accountable to act.

Example: Sarah’s Story

Let me tell you about Sarah. She was “stuck” in her career. She was good at her job but felt unfulfilled, like she was just going through the motions.

She’d tried self-help books and motivational podcasts, but nothing clicked. I

In our first session, I didn’t tell her to quit her job or chase a dream.

We explored what “fulfilment” meant to her.

Through questions and reflection, she realized she craved creativity but was scared to pursue it.

Over a few months, we worked together to set small, actionable steps—like taking a design course and pitching a creative project at work.

By the end, Sarah wasn’t just happier; she felt in control of her path for the first time in years.

That’s what coaching does: it helps you move from “stuck” to “possible.” It’s not about fixing you—you’re not broken. It’s about unlocking what’s already there. The coach can take the ‘aerial view using great questioning skills’

Could Coaching Be for You?

You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from coaching.

Maybe you’re doing “fine” but feel like there’s more out there.

Maybe you have a goal but keep procrastinating.

Or maybe you just want someone to help you sort through the noise in your head.

Coaching is for anyone ready to take ownership of their journey.

Reach out to me if you understand how to spend your hard earnt money investing in yourself.

Or not.
